As a Sales Team Leader, Andrew provides support and advice to help drive the Portfolio Management team towards achieving our company objectives and targets.
So, what does a day in the life of a sales team leader look like?
My main focus is to provide support and advice to help drive the Portfolio Management team towards achieving our company objectives and targets. Ensuring that we have sufficient processes in place to provide the best possible service to our existing client base.
Specifically, I coach the team on how our clients can maximise their facilities with MarketInvoice, generate referrals and drive activity around reactivating our existing clients.
You’ve got a background in banking. Why the move to fintech?
I spent seven years at the bank and was ready to make a change. I was always frustrated with the dated technology in the bank and how long it took to implement changes. So wanted to join a company that was leading the way and challenging the banks.
I followed MarketInvoice’s progression for a while before joining and was referred into the business by a mate that was already working here. I’ve not looked back since, I get to work with smart like-minded people that are eager to succeed and further develop their careers.
Describe the culture at MarketInvoice in three words.
Lively, sociable and welcoming
What has been the best moment and biggest challenge of going from an individual contributor to a team leader?
Best moment has definitely been the rapid development of two of the junior members in the team. One has joined the business straight from Uni and been able to pick up and succeed in the role after just a few months. The other has taken a step from Portfolio Executive by taking on a portfolio of clients, achieved 150% of his target in the first quarter and has since been promoted to a Portfolio Manager. Coaching these two and seeing them develop in the way they have is certainly a proud moment of mine at MarketInvoice.
The biggest challenge has been moving away from the direct contact with our customers. I have always enjoyed being in a customer-facing role. My challenge now is to live this through the coaching I provide to the team.
What are we likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?
I am big sports fan, in particular football. I love to play as much as I can. If I’m not playing then I’m watching!
I also like to make the most of my time off and try and fit in as many trips away as possible during the year. Weekend European city trips and exploring anywhere exotic. Last year was the Philippines, this year will be Sri Lanka.
What are you most excited for over the next 12 months?
We are in a unique position as a business. We have a great opportunity to significantly scale the business off the back of our partnership with Barclays. With a focus to bring on more partnerships like this, the next 12 months look very exciting.
On a personal level I am excited about further progressing mine and my team’s careers at MarketInvoice. Growing out the Portfolio Management team and building and implementing the required processes as we scale as a business.
