It’s no secret that demand for world class tech talent is at an all time high. We know you’re talented and there are a lot of great companies out there just waiting to snap you up. That’s one of the reasons why we’re working to create an unparalleled candidate experience. Part of that is letting you know ahead of time what it’s like to interview for a tech role here at Kriya.

Here’s what you can expect:

PHONE SCREEN

We’ve noticed your application or come across your profile and are interested in finding out a bit more about you. The first step is for you to have a chat with one of our Tech Talent Managers. They’ll ask a series of questions about your professional experience and career journey to date. They’ll be checking for core competencies, interests and motivations as well as making sure your engineering experience aligns with our tech stack.

TAKE-HOME CHALLENGE

A critical stage of our interview process is for you to complete our peer-reviewed code challenge in the comfort of your own home. This helps us to benchmark your coding skills and check whether you have the same love of clean, elegant code that we do! The challenge shouldn’t take you more than a couple of hours. The sooner you complete the challenge, the sooner we can get started reviewing it and get back to you with our feedback.

TIME TO MEET

You smashed it! The code challenge was a success and we can’t wait to get you in to meet a few people from our awesome Tech team.

To start, you’ll meet with one of our engineers for a pair programming challenge to get a feel for how you’d work with the team. We see huge value in pair programming and really encourage it within our day-to-day work. Have a read of this article about pair programming by thought leader Dave Farley for reference.

The pair programming challenge will take around an hour and will be followed by our architecture interview where you’ll be asked a short architecture question. We don’t want you to talk for hours but we’d love you to go into much detail as possible so we can get a feel for your architectural experience.

To end the interview, you’ll meet with one of our senior engineers for a quick chat to see if your skills and other attributes are suited to the role. This part of the interview usually takes 20 to 40 minutes but don’t worry if it’s slightly shorter or runs over – this isn’t necessarily an indicator of failure or success.

CULTURE

After all of us (you included) have had time to evaluate our conversations and assessments, we’ll ask you to come back in for your independent and values alignment interviews.

Our culture and environment are critical to your success here at Kriya; after all, you’ll be spending a lot of your time here. That’s why we kick off this final stage of the process with a 45-minute independent interview that’s all about assessing whether Kriya is the right place for you as an individual. It’s also an opportunity for you to carefully consider whether our values, culture, ideals and ways of working align with your own.

There will be plenty of time for you to ask us questions so we recommend you come with a few in mind. Don’t hold back, this is your chance to find out as much as you can about Kriya, the team and what it’s like to work here!

You’ll then be joined by one of our culture ambassadors who will turn the focus of the interview to our core Kriya values. We don’t believe in culture fit (no one wants to be boxed in somewhere) but rather values alignment and culture add. That’s why these questions are focussed on the behavioural traits we’re looking for that work well in our business. This will also take about 45 minutes.

Culture is really important to us; we work, celebrate, share ideas, eat (lots of biscuits) and are always learning together as a team. Our values are central to how we work and interact with each other, so this final stage of the interview process is crucial.

CONGRATULATIONS

You’ve made it through the final stage and our Talent team will call you with a decision and to provide feedback. This usually happens within 3 days but, with so many great roles to fill at the moment, it can sometimes take a little longer than usual. Fingers crossed, we’ll be calling to give you some very exciting news.

If positive, the next step is to send you your offer in principle, followed by the usual reference checks and paperwork. Keep an eye on your inbox (and post box) for invitations to training sessions and a few other surprises in preparation for your first day. We’ll be looking forward to you getting started!
